The president requested that nothing need be covered against the course of the legal process of Vina's case. “There is nothing to cover up. If anything,” President Jokowi added.

The murder case of Vina Cirebon entered a new chapter after one suspect was successfully arrested by the West Java Police together with the Directorate of General Criminal Offences (Dittipidum) Bareskrim Polri, after eight years as a fugitive.

The perpetrator who was successfully arrested is Pegi Setiawan alias Perong, who is suspected to be the mastermind of the murder and rape of Vina. Only, the police removed two other suspects from the DPO list because it was deemed untrue.

The murder and rape of Vina occurred August 2016. The Cirebon teenager was murdered along with her lover, Muhammad Rizky.

At that time, there were 11 perpetrators involved in the tragic event. However, only eight suspects were arrested and legally processed, until they were convicted. The other three suspects are still at large today.

The three perpetrators who are on the search list (DPO) with their current estimated age are Pegi aka Perong (30), Andi (31), and Dani (28). The case resurfaced after the film titled “Vina: Before 7 Days” gained public attention due to the case still leaving three suspects uncaught.
