29 Singaporean Companies Investing in IKN

Jokowi invites Singaporean investors to invest halal in Bintan, Serang, and Sidoarjo.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is pleased that 29 Singaporean companies are investing in the archipelago, East Kalimantan. “I also appreciate the enthusiasm of 29 Singaporean companies in investing in IKN,” Jokowi said after meeting Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Bogor Presidential Palace in West Java on Monday (29/4/2024).

Jokowi also hopes to get support from Singapore to build a solar power plant (PLTS) in the capital of the archipelago. In addition, Indonesia also continues to push for electricity export plans to Singapore, including supporting green industry investments.

According to Jokowi, in the field of politics and defense, the Indonesian government welcomes the implementation of the flight information region agreement (FIR) in the Natuna region. Jokowi also pushed for the implementation of extradition in the future to be fully implemented.

Jokowi said that the seventh Indonesia-Singapore Leader's Retreat meeting was a strong signal for the continuity of cooperation between the two countries. During the meeting, the two leaders also discussed regional and global issues.

At the Leader's Retreat, Indonesia and Singapore agreed to continue to push for peace in the Middle East and to continue to strengthen the centrality of ASEAN.
