Baznas RI Opens Baznas Al-Azhar and Middle East Scholarship

REPUBLICA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) RI opened the Baznas Al-Azhar Egypt and Middle East Scholars Scholarship for 2023, from 11 to 20 December 2023 at 23:59 WIB online.

This was stated by Baznas RI Head of Distribution and Support, Saidah Sakwan, while giving a speech at the Opening of BCB Al-Azhar and Middle East Program at Darul Lughoh Shaikh Zaid Headquarters Al-Azhar Campus, Egypt, Sunday (10/12/2023).

Also present, KBRI Cairo Attaché for Education Bambang Suryadi, Head of Baznas RI Rizaludin Kurniawan M.Si and Drs Kol (full) Nur Chamdani, Secretary General of the Indonesian Ulema Assembly (MUI) Amirsyah Tambangan, MUI Chairman for Foreign Relations and International Cooperation Prof. Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim, representatives of the Integrated Islamic Schools Network (JSIT), Rumah Zakat (RZ), as well as Indonesia's Zakat Initiative (IZI).

“For the quota of BCB Al-Azhar and the Middle East in 2023, Baznas prepared 300 scholarships for students who passed the selection. This is a form of Baznas alignment towards education and clerical caderisation in Indonesia,” Saidah said.

Saidah said that assistance is provided for a maximum of 2 years of study. Scholarships are open for active students at Al-Azhar Campus in Egypt and other Middle East. “These scholarships cover stipends, uniform making to coaching from Baznas, PPMI, and OIAA,” Saidah said.

“This scholarship is intended for active students who are attending college by attaching an Active Certificate from campus or a valid Student Card,” he said.

Meanwhile, KBRI Cairo Attache for Education Bambang Suryadi expressed his appreciation to Baznas RI for re-opening scholarships for the fourth time for students in Al-Azhar Egypt and the Middle East.

“Education is an important thing for the younger generation as the next generation of the nation. We express our appreciation and thanks to Baznas for facilitating the educational cost needs for Indonesian students in Al-Azhar Egypt and the Middle East,” he said. For the BCB Al-Azhar and Middle East quota of 2023, Baznas prepared 300 scholarships for students who passed the selection.

Terms of BCB Al-Azhar Egypt and Middle East:

1. Indonesian citizen, evidenced by ID card and family card

2. Active students of Al-Azhar University of Egypt and other Middle East are evidenced by attaching an isbat qayyid (Active Certificate) from the Campus or a valid Student ID Card

3. Not receiving another scholarship

4. Not married and willing not to marry while on a scholarship

5. Having memorization or mastery of the book becomes more valuable

6. Attaching a High School/Equivalent Diploma

7. Get recommendations from public figures (Format is already prepared)

8. Affidavit (Format prepared)

9. Parental consent letter (Format already prepared)

10. Creating an essay “Lectures in Al-Azhar and Post-Graduate Plan”
