Jokowi departs for Singapore to visit Ani Yudhoyono

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) departed for Singapore on Thursday afternoon to visit the wife of former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Kristiani Herrawati Yudhoyono, better known as Ani Yudhoyono. Jokowi boarded the Indonesian-1 presidential aircraft at the air force airport at around 13:30 WIB.

"Today, I and First Lady Iriana will go to Singapore to visit Ani Yudhoyono," President Jokowi remarked at a press conference in the VVIP room at the Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon.

In addition, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko was among the officials accompanying the president. Jokowi revealed his plan to soon return to the country on Thursday afternoon after visiting Ani Yudhoyono.

Ani Yudhoyono, wife of the sixth president of the Republic of Indonesia, is being treated at the Singapore National University Hospital. She was diagnosed with blood cancer and had been undergoing medical treatment in Singapore since February 2, 2019, on the recommendation of the Indonesian presidential medical team.
