REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, AMBON -- The facilities at the Pattimura International Airport in Ambon, Maluku, will be upgraded in stages until 2018, with an investment of Rp45 billion, stated manager of the airport management company PT Angkasa Pura-I Merpin Butarbutar.

"With an investment of Rp45 billion, we will add several aerobridges, expand the departure lounge, and enhance the design of the airport terminal in stages by 2018," Butarbutar remarked here on Thursday.

Located some 36 kilometers from the city of Ambon, the Pattimura International Airport has an immigration office, quarantine facility, tax office, a cargo storage building, several small restaurants, public pay phones, and a post office.

Free Wi-Fi Internet is available throughout the airport facility.

Several ATMs are available outside the terminal building near the Damri bus stop.

The banks having ATMs at the Ambon airport include: Bank Mandiri, Bank BNI, Bank BRI, Bank Maluku, and Bank BCA.

The airport has domestic and international terminals, but currently, there are no regular scheduled international flights to Ambon, so the international terminal is used to serve domestic flights.
