Budget efficiency, President says no more car shopping

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo urges the minister to improve efficiency by not spending budget for expenditures that are not urgent. This was said by the President while leading a plenary cabinet meeting that one of the agenda to discuss the State Budget (APBN) changes.

"Do efficiency! Both with regard to the operating expenditure and capital expenditure. Do not budget that not priority like a car," he said on Thursday.

The President also asked the minister directly responsible for the budget in  each ministry. Budget management should not be left to subordinates.

In addition, the President stressed that the budget is prepared according to planning priority programs. Because, he said, if the budget will not be spread evenly visible benefits.

"Do not need a lot of programs. Concentration on a clearly defined program and beneficial for the people, and create a multiplier effect to the business world and society," he said.

Plenary cabinet meeting itself was also attended by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, cabinet ministers and leaders of the institution.
