Residents of Pekanbaru also feel Padang earthquake

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, Pekanbaru - The earthquake rock the city of Padang, West Sumatra on Thursday (2/6) morning at 5:56 am caused quite panic among residents Pekanbaru and its surroundings.

"Yeah just now, feel the vibrations as well but I am not sure and asked the other neighbors there also felt the quake," said Rico, a Residents Griya, District Handsome, Pekanbaru City, Thursday (2/6).

A resident of Kemuning Pekanbaru road, Riana Tri Handayani (34), said she felt the quake while nursing her baby. She claimed there was a bit of shock to create ripples in a pot of drinking water and room curtains swaying like wind blown.

"I knew it was an earthquake after seeing the news on television. At first I thought it was the jinn or ghosts who try to interfere," said Riana.

Another resident, Dadan (37), also felt the quake admitted to waking up.

"Mattress wobbling until I woke made. Turns out it was an earthquake of West Sumatra," he said.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) recorded the earthquake was located at point 2.29 south latitude and 100.46 east longitude. The location of the earthquake was approximately 79 kilometers from the southwest coast of the south.

The quake occurred at a depth 72 kilometers. However, the quake was not a potential tsunami.
