REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ministry of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) explained that state owned carrier PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines still active. Therefore, SOEs minister Dahlan Iskan gave time to company until the end of February to revive its operations.

“If possible, in the next 21 days Merpati will fly again,” Iskan said as reported by Aldian Wahyu Ramadhan recently.

Merpati Airlines halted its operations on February 1 due to its massive debts of 6.7 trillion IDR. Director General of Civil Aviation in Ministry of Transportation, Herry Bakti said that government would revoke permit license of Merpati if the domestic airline could not fly in 21 days.

Previously, Merpati's Corporate Secretary, Riswanto said that company would form three subsidiaries. These subsidiaries would be in charge of aircraft maintenance, flight training and joint operations. They are PT Merpati Maintenance Facility International (MMF), PT Merpati Training Centre (MTC) and PT Merpati Aviation Services.
