Luhut revokes moratorium of 17 reclamation islands

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Head of Jakarta Development Planning Board (Bappeda), Tuty Kusumawati confirmed moratorium of reclamation of 17 islands in Jakarta bay has been revoked since Thursday (October 5). The warrant signed by Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, she said.

"Mr. Luhut signed it for all 17 islands," Tuty said on Friday (October 6) reffering to the letter No. S-78-001 / 02 / Menko / Maritime / X / 2017.

She explained, the warrant annuled the decree on the moratorium of Jakarta's bay reclamation project signed by Rizal Ramli when he served as coordinating Maritime Affairs minister in 2016. 

In the warrant mentioned that : It is hereby informed that the moratorium on the construction of the Jakarta Bay Reclamation Project (as stated in the letter of the Coordinating Minister for the Ministry of Marine Affairs No. 27.1 / Menko / Maritime / IV / 2016 dated April 19, 2016) declared as revoked and no longer valid.
