iHAQI reminds important meanings of Eid al-Adha

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LEBAK -- Last Monday (9/12), Muslims across the globe were celebrating the first day of Eid al-Adha. The world also known Eid al-Adha as the Feast of Sacrifice.

Eid al-Adha is one of the most important Islamic holiday. It commemorates and honours the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim PBUH--also known as Abraham to Christians and Jews--to sacrifice his beloved son before Allah SWT replace Ismail with an animal.

Ibrahim and Ismail had past difficult test from Allah SWT. Since then, to remember what Ibrahim did, Muslims slaughter cattle then distribute parts of the meat to the poor. The sacrificial animal, either a goat, cow, lamb, or camel, can be slaughtered until the third day of the Feast of Sacrifice.

The holiday begins on the 10th day of the Islamic lunar month of Dhul-Hijja, during the hajj pilgrimage.

iHAQI Creative Propagation Institute Chief, Ustaz (The cleric) Erick Yusuf has reminded the importance of sacrificing animals on Eid al-Adha.

Ustaz Erick said sacrifice is a part of the Prophet Ibrahim's teaching.

He said sacrifice during Eid al-Adha has many important meanings for Muslims.

With sacrificing the animals, Muslims can learn how to be sincere, be more grateful, strenghten the bond between Muslims and the society, and sharing the happiness of Eid al-Adha.

He hoped by sacrificing the animals, Muslims can lift up their spirit to embrace the poor so they can feel the same happiness.
