REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GORONTALO – Province of Gorontalo exports 4,000 tonnes corns to Vietnam for the first time. The Governor Rusli Habibie said Vietnam was a new market for the province’s corns in 2012.

"We will supply more," he said on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the inter-island and export corn trade has reached 122,153 tonnes by July 2012. The transaction volume reaches around 3.8 billion IDR. Yet, the governor said the amount was not satisfying enough and he determined to increase the volume. Earlier the governor urged farmers in Gorontalo to grow corn since there is an increasing demand from domestic and abroad.

"Corn is the prime commodity from Gorontalo. Local government tries to boost the production through several steps including providing the seeds," he said.
