Lightning kills two residents of Nias

Struck by lightning, five-year-old boy survived, two other victims died on the spot.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NIAS -- Residents of Gido Sub-district, Nias District, North Sumatra -- Faogoasa Ndraha, 45, and Felix Falukhata Ndraha, 17, -- were killed by lightning. Meanwhile, five-year-old Rizal Ndraha survived and is being treated at the Gunungsitoli General Hospital.

The victims' relative Ediasa Ndraha confirmed when contacted on Tuesday that both Faogoasa and Felix were killed by lightning at Eseli Ndraha's stall.

According to Ndraha, before the incident, the three had sought shelter in Eseli's tavern located in Nifalo Village, o Lauru, Gido Sub-district, Nias District.

When the trio were seeking shelter from the rain on the terrace of the diner, lightning suddenly struck the stall.

Two victims died on the spot, while Rizal was in a critical condition and is currently being treated at the Gunungsitoli General Hospital.

Meanwhile, the stall owned by Eseli has incurred damage due to the lightning.
